Dan is urging us ALL to share our concerns and point of view on this matter with Capstone! Emails/ letters and or phone calls will help make this company understand that- to date- 1000 members of our community are standing together in opposition to this BESS site!! Capstone contacts are listed below in Dan’s email. Let’s work together to ensure Capstone understands Caledonia is “not out of sight, out of mind” and neither is this project! Please see below information from the Bridgesidebess.com website, page 11 of 19 in the Community and Indigenous Engagement Plan section. As you can see the proponent is required to solicit input from individual or groups that have a vested interest. In my opinion, judging by the last second Zoom meeting to satisfy the initial community meeting, enthusiasm from Capstone to engage and obtain as much local input will be non-existent. Therefore it is imperative all send their thoughts as to why this project should not be implemented at the current proposed locale. Objections should be logical, not the type “I just don’t want it” but rather with reasoning such as the most glaring and obvious one(of many) “this is under minded land, sink holes appearing have been a regular occurrence for decades thus disaster is awaiting,” at least in my opinion.
6. Regulatory Requirements Should the Project be awarded a contract in the IESO LT1 RFP process, it will be required to obtain environmental approvals from the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), as well as permits and approvals from local authorities. MECP will undertake review of BESS project permitting, and we anticipate having further guidance on governing regulations. Irrespective of the outcome of the MECP review, stakeholder consultation forms part of the environmental assessment and local permitting processes. During this process, proponents are required to actively solicit input within the Project area and from other individuals or groups that may have an interest in the Project through the means of meetings and/or open houses, informal discussions with landowners and nearby residents, and meetings with community associations, municipal governments, communities, businesses, regional planning agencies, Indigenous groups or special interest groups. Proponents are required to document the engagement activities, to describe the consultation activities, to include the people and groups involved, to list the dates and means of engagement (e.g., via mail, phone, meetings), and to summarize feedback, comments and concerns received.
The following is the contact information to send feedback to and please ask for a response/receipt back received. The input is to be forwarded to the Ministry of Environment Conservation and Park(MECP). I have asked County Staff to find a contact within the MECP that input can be sent directly to as well to ensure received, hopefully will be successful soon and will forward.
