The UK’s Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) announced yesterday on its Council meeting that, NMC would accept C+ score in Writing on overseas nurses registration. From 28th January 2020, the Council will accept a grade C+ in Writing alongside a minimum B grade in the OET Listening, Reading and Speaking sub-tests. Applicants may provide two test results to meet the above requirement if both the tests are taken within a span of 6 months. Nurses possess the results of OET taken after 28th January 2018 (with in the last 2 years)will be eligible to start their registration in January 2020. This means all overseas nurses who are applying with the new score criteria would have to wait until 28 January 2020 to start their NMC application. This new decision of the NMC will provide a great sigh of relief to the aspiring overseas nurses who are really anxious about their career, future and life in the UK. Finally, we made the victory, our voices & prayers are heard. I had never thought this would happen, in fact, that, I could undertake such a herculean task. It’s your interest, your anxiety and your keenness that fired up my passion and commitment to prolong the fight till the end. When I started my first petition asking NMC to reduce IELTS score in 2014. I haven’t had a hope that it would go up to NMC. But we made it. It wouldn’t have been possible without your support. I don’t think I can achieve anything better than this in life being an overseas nurse. A typical Indian nurse having simple and common aspirations like the others of just working and setting in the UK who ended up becoming the prime contributor to this motion, it’s really unimaginable!. I am sure this would help thousands of nurses to have their dream career in the UK. Thank you, everyone, this is not my own personal success, but the success of the whole overseas nursing community. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, for making this happen and I can not forget a number of people for being a great support on this, Stephane Guegan(The 3 Million) Alex Melia( Swoosh English) Hemanth Kumar(Odin English) Nathalie Donnelly (Unison) Jasminsha(UNA) and many others.
