Years ago, one of the many cases of abuse my son sustained was by the house manager, she choked him. For your information, my son was at most 110 pounds at the time, he had no use of his right hand, non-verbal, and very low functioning. Not a threat to anyone. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) that reported it, called me to meet her at the hospital where she was taking my son. She was fired immediately. The manager that choked my son was kept on staff, and in the house with my son. It took me months to get her removed. At the time, I was not my son's guardian so I could only bring in an outside agency to investigate. If this wasn't the case, I would have brought charges against her. It was eventually substantiated by Disability Rights New Jersey.

I don't mind sharing this but unfortunately, I do not have a photo of the choking incident. This incident happened back in 2010, it and many other photos were lost long ago.

My son's name is Derik Bolan and the choking incident happened in 2010. He was 24 years old at the time.
