Stop car emission tests on monkeys

Stop car emission tests on monkeys
The Issue
Nissan, the German car manufacturers in a desperate bid to prove the cleanliness of diesel technology financed research in 2014 using caged monkeys watching television cartoons as they inhaled fumes from a Volkswagen Beetle. These tests were carried out to provide scientific evidence of a new generation of diesel engines purported to be far cleaner than in the past. Unknown to the researchers, the study was a fraud: the Beetle was equipped with software to reduce emissions in the lab, but in the real world it spewed 40 times the permitted limit. The monkeys suffered not only the horrific effects of being locked in a cage in unnatural surroundings but also the effects of inhaling the fumes. Do we really want this to be an acceptable form of safety testing? This is an outdated and cruel method of research that really has no place in today's modern car manufacturing. Please sign the petition today to tell Nissan that we, the car buying public, are not in support of such cruel research.
