Remove Banjo-Kazooie from Super Smash Brothers, and add Minecraft Steve in their place

On June 11th, 2019, Nintendo announced at this year's press conference that the characters "Banjo-Kazooie" would be appearing in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

While many newer fans of the series were rather excited for this news, us older fans of the franchise were extremely disappointed by this announcement. Primarily, it shows Nintendo's disconnect from the current gaming scene, in the exact same vein as their decision to not include friend-only co-op in first-party titles, failure to implement voice chat, console chatting, etcetera. Nintendo, time and time again, have repeatedly shown that they are completely out of tune with reality, and this decision to include "Banjo-Kazooie" is the final straw. Why add a character who hasn't been relevant for at least two decades? It is delusional to believe their target demographic (that is, children) would even recognize such forgettable characters in the grand scheme of gaming.

On the contrary, "Banjo-Kazooie" 's "spot" in the game (I put quotations because I don't think it'll stay that way for long) actively prevents the introduction of a character that checks all the boxes "Banjo-Kazooie" checks, and then some. Steve (yes THE Steve from Minecraft) is who should instead be residing in that "Mincrosoft representative" roster slot. While Steve is superior to Banjo is hundreds of different ways, by far relevancy is the most important upgrade. Need I remind you, Minecraft is literally the WORLD'S most popular and famous game? Nintendo would have to be, apologies for the language, but dense to not realize what opportunity they're missing.

Additionally, compared to "Banjo-Kazooie", who are just a normal bird and bear, Steve from Minecraft has a vastly larger moveset potential. In his game, Minecraft Steve has super-superhuman strength (proven in Matthew Patrick's "How Strong is Steve" piece) and has been known to use supernatural items such as the Enderpearl. These make for a much more creative variety of moves that even "Banjo-Kazooie" fans would agree is more fun.

So please, Nintendo, and Masahiro Sakurai; please heed our message, and remove "Banjo-Kazooie" from the game in place of Steve from Minecraft.
