The Issue

AM2R :
A great game which was in development for years.

Another Metroid 2 Remake (often shortened to AM2R) is a fan-produced remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus, developed by Argentinian independent programmer Milton "DoctorM64" Guasti. The game updates the 1991 version with color, a visual style similar to Super Metroid and gameplay similar to Metroid: Zero Mission. After years of development, the game was released for free to Windows-based computers on August 6, 2016, coinciding with the Metroid series thirtieth anniversary. However, shortly afterward, Nintendo sent DMCA notices to websites hosting the game, including the official blog and the Metroid Database, forcing their removal.

This is no respect for Nintendo fans. DMCA is abut protecting Nintendo games, its understandable, sending a notice to take down a free remastered version of 1991 Metroid game, which they made money of. Because it's on GBA, not much people play this game. A smart move for Nintendo would be releasing AM2R because:

  • The game is very popular, so they can earn much money from the official paid release for present Nintedo systems.
  • Keep up the Metroid franchise: Metroid Prime: Federation Force is hated by many gamers.
  • New game for Nintendo Switch, new games are: Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, NBA, Mario Kart. Leaving Metroid behind would be a bad idea.
