When Super Mario Maker 2 was announced, one of the biggest things that people were hoping for were the Mystery Mushrooms that allowed you to play the Super Mario Bros. mode with a variety of classic 'costumes.'  These could either be unlocked via Amiibo or by playing through the game.  We feel it added a unique and fun touch to the game that made it more interesting.

We have learned that Super Mario Maker 2 will not have the Mystery Mushrooms in this version.  This, we feel, takes away a key component of the original Super Mario Maker game.  While we understand that some of the costumes might not be able to be included due to copyright/trademark issues, we still feel, nonetheless, that the costumes that could be included would still be better than nothing.  We feel that the Mystery Mushroom costumes made Super Mario Maker a lot more interesting and fun, and by excluding them, it takes away a key component of the game.

We know that one of the biggest gripes is a lack of online multiplayer, which is understandable, but another gripe we have is the lack of the Mystery Mushroom costumes.  We feel that if this were not to be added to the game, if not immediately then through DLC, then interest in the Super Mario Maker 2 game could easily be lower than it should be.

Thus, we are asking that Nintendo please return the Mystery Mushrooms to the game.  Even if Amiibo support isn't included, the ability to insert the costumes manually would be better than nothing at all.  It was possible to unlock them in the original Super Mario Maker game for the Wii U, and providing them in Super Mario Maker 2 wouldn't be too difficult either.
