To ask for a REALISTIC solution for child maintenance.

The Issue

After an endless battle with what was the CSA & now the new Child Maintenance, I would like to ask for basic common sense to be applied to decisions about payments. My most recent decision about maintenance has been based upon the non-resident parent having a 'gross weekly income' of £11.34 per week. I do not believe it would be possible for a human to survive on this amount. The onus is on myself (the parent with care & innocent party) to prove otherwise. Prior to this decision, the NRP had claimed to be living on an income of ZERO for 5 years. Why is such ridicule allowed? I would like to request support to ask Nigel Adams, my local MP to raise this for debate which should bring about change. In my situation, the NRP quite clearly has a lifestyle that is totally inconsistent with his claims of poverty. Why should my son be the one who has to go without, whilst his so called father manages to play the system. I am outraged at this injustice. I believe there are many others in a similar or worse situation than mine, I would therefore like to unite these people to try to bring about some reform. To tell me that my son is worth £7.96 a week is an insult I cannot put into words. Where has the common sense gone? Who could live on first a ZERO income & now £11.34 per week, yet still go out, go on holidays, have a mortgage.... I think it is utterly ridiculous to suggest this would be possible, yet it has been accepted as fact! Thank you for reading & also for your support. Sheena Swift.
