Koala-T preschool in Beech Grove, Indiana has provided my children exemplary childcare services for over 2 years now. They have been awarded a Level 4 in Indianas Paths to Quality program for 2 years as of January 2016 and were a Level 3 prior. I absolutely love what they do for my children. As a single mother, having the solid support of my daycare provider is a priority as they serve to be my children's family away from home. Recently, the state of Indiana has taken action against the facility threatening to revoke their licensing due to some extremely minor circumstances. Back in June of 2015 the teachers were required to take a Child Abuse training course online that was previously offered as an in-person training seminar. The teachers of Koala-T, new to the process, each logged in under the assistant directors name and completed the course printing out their certificates and changing the name from the Assistant Directors to their own. The licensing agent came to review the school for a renewal of licensing and explained this is considered falsification of documents. The Assistant Director immediately had everyone complete the course under their own name. The second issue was a complaint reported to the licensing consultant accusing a teacher of doing drugs. Upon receipt of this information the employee was immediately taken for a drug screen. The results did come back positive for marijuana and the employee was immediately terminated. Koala-T preschool has followed all the necessary guidelines to take care of the issues the state has filed as non-compliance. Koala-T preschool provides a safe, fun, educational and enriching environment for hundreds of children. Although there are many, they give each child their own individual attention. They've helped many children overcome a multitude of behavioral problems as well as be ready for a school environment. Each class (no matter the age) has a learning curriculum designed to assist in the development of our children in a classroom setting. For those of us who can't be at home with our Children, this is model care. I'm starting this petition to keep Koala-T licensed as I believe they provide the best care available for my children and more to come. Please help us speak out to the State of Indiana and keep Koala-T Preschool open for our children in the Beech Grove area.
