As I'm sure some of you are familiar, Blue's Clues and You is coming to Nickelodeon this Fall. But we recently received some glimpses of the first episode of the new show through YouTube and Twitter.
The first glimpse featured the host, Josh, and Blue in a scene similar to one we saw in the very first episode of the original show. And I'm proud to say that it's very faithful in a way to start the show out. Josh then decides to get some help from his cousins, vi the phone on the back of the new Handy Dandy Notebook, and lo and behold, Josh's cousins are none other than Joe and Steve! This not only adds to the Blue's Clues lore, but it also expands the family. We also notice that Joe is working at the Present Store and Steve is running his own Detective Agency, called Blue Prints (which was the name of the pilot for the original show back in 1995).
After Steve and Joe tell Josh that the only thing to be done is play Blue's Clues, Steve asks to speak with the viewer, the first time he's done so in person since the 100th episode special, and the first time all together since the episode Blue's First Holiday. And it also marks the first time Joe has spoken with the viewers since the last episode of the Blue's Clues spin-off, Blue's Room.
The second glimpse keeps faithful to the original first episode, but with the minor change of modern emails replacing the old letters from Mailbox during the Mail Time segment. The glimpse also keeps the skidoo segment intact by showing Josh and Blue enter a picture of the farm and help some of the animals, much like Steve and the viewers did in the original show.
These glimpses should inspire us to take our efforts to get the old shows of Nick Jr, like Blue's Clues, on Netflix and/or DVD so that way the kids of today can learn how to play that timeless game.
