My brothers and sisters, the day we honor and celebrate the life and accomplishments of Doctor Martin Luther King Jr is fast approaching. And much like the great man once said at a rally in the 1960's, I have a dream. I have a dream that all children, both young and old, regardless of color, race, creed, nation, or flag, can experience the educational cartoons that they saw on Nick Jr in their youth when they were younger, or what their parents reminisce about when they watch their children enjoy the modern educational programs on Nick Jr today. I have a dream that these programs are preserved for all time, and will be shared with future generations of children long after we're gone. And when I mentioned Doctor Martin Luther King, I mentioned him for a reason. Because he reminded me much of another influential man, Bill Cosby.
Despite the legal accusations against him, Bill Cosby broke down racial barriers when he created Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, and he broke down even more barriers when he created Little Bill, the first Nick Jr show of its kind to introduce different kinds of children in one place at the same time. Though not many people remember Little Bill, this petition will bring him back. This petition will also bring back all the shows that aired on Nick Jr before and after Little Bill was first aired, be it on DVD releases with just a few episodes, or all together in a season DVD box set. But I don't just stand here and speak for my benefit, nor for your benefit, but I stand here as an "advocate" of sorts for the children of the world. And my dream is to see a world where the children of tomorrow and of today can learn from shows that were once in the past, long forgotten but well remembered, and that are in the present. And I will close this out by saying this, this petition is not the end of my efforts.
I will seek out other companies, namely Cartoon Network, PBS Kids, and Disney, and attempt the same procedure with them. This sole petition is part of a movement that will take the children's television market and the children's animation industry by storm. And if we succeed, I can envision my dream ending with all of us, all of God's children singing in unison: Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, they're free at last.
