Finally, after much delay and high profile interference by the establishment, the new NICE guideline was published at the end of October, and it is good news! I have summarised the main points here. Read Doctors with M.E.'s statement here, along with comments by experts. For those of you who would like to learn more about the strong opposition that came before, see this article.
Three other guidelines have been published worldwide this year on ME/CFS, all trashing GET. Wherever in the world you are, you now have a strong scientific and medical voice to back you up when seeking appropriate care. These are from:
- The U.S. ME/CFS Clinician Coalition
- The Mayo Clinic
- The European Network on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (EUROMENE)
CALL FOR CHANGE
With international scientific guidelines now on our side, it is time for change. Please sign the following Call for Change petitions. Started in the UK, it is now taking off in Australia - sign both. Among other things, it calls for a full public enquiry on how things went so badly wrong for ME/CFS. And the dirty games haven't just impacted ME/CFS patients - because of the undermining and lack of research funding into ME/CFS, the world is now ill-equipped to deal with Long Covid. The suffering and lack of treatment for Long Covid is a direct result of the decades of establishment abuse of ME patients. Get your Long Covid friends to sign too!
