Lyn Brown MP for West Ham has written to Newham Council Chief Executive Ms Althea Loderick requesting that the Council review its decision to remove Hibiscus Caribbean Elderly Association Premises Licence. In his letter to Lyn Brown alerting her to the issue, Clifford Headley Company Secretary HCEA drew attention to the loss of jobs and the deepening of racial disadvantage in the borough that is bound to follow if the decision is upheld. Central to this issue is the ongoing destruction of the black community's secular infrastructure and the denial of work opportunities for black people: here it is important to make the link with what is happening to black people and their organisations  elsewhere and expose how licensing legislation is used by local authorities and the police to disadvantage black people  and cement inequality.
