Thanks again to everyone! We are a shade off 2500 signatures just another 55 needed. Also 1493 people have gone to www.newcastle.gov.uk/roads to comment on the proposal. Most have moved the slider to the left to express a negative view of the proposed junction however the comments have been polite and constructive with loads of great ideas. At least 1000 of you haven't left a comment on the NCC site. This means that NCC will have to guess what you want! Do you think they will guess correctly? We know from the FAQ that no change is unlikely to be an option. Please don't let NCC speak on your behalf - tell them! I would like to know how NCC intend to assimilate and publish the ideas put forward by the people. This would demonstrate that they are listening to residents and is local democracy in action. A skim through comments to date suggest support for a much smaller scheme on the existing road footprint as far as possible or incorporating and just to the north of the blue house. Who knows we may have the solutions. The visionaries that opposed motorway overdevelopment in the 1970s were proved right. I come from Birmingham where the motorway planners won. Birmingham is just about to get its first modern rapid transit system 40 years after Newcastle got the Metro. Do we really want to be 40 years behind this time round? Mike
