Haldane Bridge in Jesmond is dangerous for walkers and cyclists owing to heavy traffic and narrow pavements. We urge the council to implement a motor traffic-free trial on this bridge in 2019 to separate the main driving and walking routes through the area. This change would greatly increase the area's safety for local people and benefits could be evaluated in a trial.
