Thank you to everyone who joined us outside Newcastle Civic Centre today to make a stand for nature and green space.

We were dismayed that the planning committee waved through plans for housing on one of the last areas of green space in West Denton.

We were even more dismayed that the Cell B1 application has been further delayed, as councillors made a decision to draw the meeting to an abrupt close before the application could be heard. 

We are concerned that the Council deliberately stopped live streaming the event to prevent the wider public from witnessing members of the public being escorted out of the public meeting.

We have made a formal complaint to Newcastle City Council's head of democratic services about the manner in which the meeting was conducted.
