It's time for Newcastle City Council and Newcastle Great Park Consortium to come clean. The decision on Newcastle Great Park’s application for 1,200 houses adjacent to Havannah Nature Reserve is just one example of how development in Newcastle Great Park has been allowed to go ahead unchecked, to the detriment of wildlife. Newcastle City Council officers and Newcastle Great Park Consortium are holding a meeting for residents in the Newcastle Great Park Community Centre, Roseden Way (NE13 9BD), on Tuesday 20th March, from 6pm-8pm. We are urging people to attend the meeting en masse and press officers and developers for answers to what is really going on in the Great Park; why longstanding legal agreements are being ignored; why landscaping and nature conservation is not being implemented and why wildlife is under attack. It's been 11 weeks since we wrote to the Secretary of State asking for the application to be called in. We still do not know when a decision will be made.
