Save Newcastle WildlifeNewcastle upon Tyne, ENG, United Kingdom
Jan 8, 2018
Thank you to everyone who has written to the Secretary of State asking him to call in the planning application for Cell A.
The National Planning Casework Unit has now received more than 40 requests and this case is now on the radar.
A decision will not be made by the casework unit until after Newcastle City Council's decision on the application, which will be made this Friday, 12th January at 9.30am in Newcastle Civic Centre.
Please attend the meeting if possible. The application is the first item on the agenda, so there shouldn’t be much waiting around.
We did request an evening meeting to make it easier for members of the public to attend, however, our request was refused.
If you have not already sent an email to the Secretary of State, you can do so via sajid.javid@communities.gsi.gov.uk with an open copy to PCU@communities.gsi.gov.uk, quoting planning application 2017/0666/01/OUT.
We consider this planning application to be unlawful and see intervention from central government necessary.
With only a few days to make a difference, it is important to act sooner, rather than later to save Newcastle's green belt and obtain greater protection for wildlife in and around Havanah Nature Reserve.
