An email to the high school regarding summer school attendance!

**********************************************************Thanks again for your support through this untenable school year. The children of this pandemic have suffered greatly with social isolation and academic paralysis. Our son <> needs to focus on re-engaging with his friends and family this summer. We believe that by getting him socialized again it will set him up for better academic performance in the Fall.  As such, he will not be attending Summer School offered by the NYC DOE for kids to make up credits.

We are fully aware that, by declining his participation in the summer program, he will be required to repeat the 10th grade. Our hope is that other parents know that this may be the best option for their child also and that he will not be the only student repeating the 2020/21 school year.

We also recognize the potential challenge socially, but hope that you will support him and us in making a very hard decision so that he can successfully complete high school and will be better prepared for college or the workforce.

Thanks again to Bryant High School administration and teachers for your dedication to our children during the pandemic. We hope this is behind us and things will return to “normal” in the next school year. Our country deserves significant change to public education based on what we all experienced over the past two years. Enjoy your Summer! Helen
