Until recently, Snapple bottles were always bottled in glass rather than plastic.  There are numerous advantages to drinking from a glass bottle over a plastic one.  For one, glass bottles are more environmentally friendly.  Plastic bottles may be recyclable, but household recycling rates in the united states are abysmal at best.  With only 35% of U.S. waste being recycled and composted, (compared to Germany, the world leader at 66%) recycling cannot be relied on as a real solution (https://www.forbes.com/sites/niallmccarthy/2016/03/04/the-countries-winning-the-recycling-race-infographic/#17c0d3da2b3d 

Plastic bottles also pose serious health concerns.  It is well known that many plastic bottles release carcinogens into the beverage, especially when left in a warm area.
