Address quality of life concerns caused by waterfront development in Astoria / Long Island City

Address quality of life concerns caused by waterfront development in Astoria / Long Island City
The Issue
We the residents, property owners, business owners and other interested parties of the Old Astoria Neighborhood have Quality of Life concerns regarding new waterfront developments being constructed on the Hallet’s Peninsula. Current projects include Hallet’s Point Development and Astoria Cove Development, with others to follow.
These issues include:
1. Transportation/Traffic/Parking: During and after Construction
2. Infrastructure including power, sewers, water, etc. (promote use of on site solar and hydroelectric power to relieve stress on the current antiquated power grid)
3. Security, including a NYPD Substation, Foot and Bicycle patrols, and CCTV coverage
4. Construction of a Dog Run that contains separate sections for big and small dogs.
We urge NYC Elected Officials and NY City Agencies to ensure that these issues are incorporated in the final designs of all Hallet’s Peninsula developments.
