Thank you so very much for supporting the petition to honor the memory of the late Laura Deckelman by requesting some sort of dedication at the Rockaway Ferry landing. 

Today’s highlight of Laura’s life and talent focuses on her work with the surfing communities of Rockaway.

Years ago I created a FB page to showcase Laura’s pictures regarding surfers who come from all over the country, whether winter or summer, as long as waves are there to surf.  The surfers wear various thicknesses of wetsuits.

NY Surf School on Beach 69th Street in Arverne teaches everyone who want to learn how to surf.  They have been most kind to the children of the Rockaway community who receive FREE surfing lessons.  Laura captured them on film to share with everyone.  The kids (especially the GIRLS!) LOVE it.  These are opportunities that were never provided to the public without joining a private organization.

Again, I thank you for signing.  We need more SIGNATURES!  Please make my dream, my passion, Laura’s friend’s passion a reality.  Just 5 emails or shares on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and all other forms (I am not a social media expert) to secure more signatures.

I am forming a committee shortly to take this process to the next step.  I’ve already been approached by many wanting to devote their time to making this dream a reality, so I decided a committee would be an integral part in the equation.
