The current presidential election has shown that Donald Trump has a blatant disregard for the people of this country and their democratic ideals. We the undersigned believe that Mr. Trump will betray what the people of New England hold most dear in modern American political life and we will not stand by while he dismantles the democracy that our Founding Fathers worked hard to create. We believe that since Mr. Trump has won the presidential election, a candidate that the states of New England did not vote for, the people of the New England states should be polled on the question as to whether or not they should leave and establish an independent nation to preserve our democratic ideals based on the now endangered liberty that our forebears fought so hard to win and to preserve.
