Dear Supporters of the "Never Bark Alone — Safety at UGA" Petition,

It has been just over a year since we launched this petition calling for enhanced safety measures at the University of Georgia. Thanks to your support, we’ve made progress—but our work is far from over. While UGA reports spending $25 million over the last nine years on security initiatives, many key improvements only came after the tragic murder of Laken Riley.

We acknowledge UGA’s efforts, including the UGASafe app, the UGA Ride Smart/Lyft rideshare discount program, additional sworn officers on campus, possibly some new security cameras and a couple dozen call boxes. However, we must ask: Are these measures truly proactive, comprehensive, and sufficient to meet the growing safety needs of UGA’s students?

The reality is clear—many critical concerns remain unanswered. We need strategic, forward-thinking solutions, not just reactive measures.

We have been advocating tirelessly for meaningful improvements, yet we are still waiting for direct responses from UGA President Jere Morehead (president@uga.edu).  We now add the Chancellor of the University System of Georgia, Dr. Sonny Perdue (chancellor@usg.edu), and Governor Brian Kemp (Brian.Kemp@georgia.gov) to help get this done.

Now, we need YOU to take action!

Email Decision Makers: Demand comprehensive safety solutions and immediate action. Let them know that student safety is not negotiable. Share the Petition: We need more voices to amplify this message. Encourage friends, family, and fellow students to sign and share.

Your advocacy is making a difference. Together, we can ensure that no one at UGA ever has to "Bark Alone" again. Let’s keep pushing for real, lasting change.

Thank you for standing with us.
