SafeD Athens fully supports UGA’s recently announced $7.3 million of additional safety measures - it is a move in the right direction. Still, more deterrence measures we have been promoting for several years, as outlined in this petition, are necessary. We need to get to 5,000 signatures; please continue to share the petition with friends and through social media. 

Trauma from crime changes the trajectory of many students’ paths far too often. We are their voices. Too much still needs to be done. Not all crime can be prevented, but layered levels of deterrence can make a significant difference. Our students, children, and community deserve safety and security now.
