SENDING OUT THIS LETTER TO ORGANIZATIONS.
If you can help by reaching out to organizations in your country to help please do so! Especially if your country deems aversive tools illegal!

To whom this may concern:

Netflix is due to release a show called Canine Intervention on February 24th, 2021 staring a dog trainer by the name of Jas Leverette of Cali K9. It is evident on Leverette’s website and social media that prong collars, choke collars and electrical shock collars are heavily endorsed and used to modify behaviour of dogs.

In an attempt to spread consumer awareness, we have started a petition in hopes that Netflix cancels the show. Knowing this is a lofty goal other outcomes from this initiative would be the following:

-          General consumer awareness to ensure those watching the show have scientific knowledge to think critically on the methods used and a greater understanding of canine body language.

-          Netflix add a disclaimer to the show stating that these methods are not endorsed by (insert organizations) due to the techniques used to modify behaviour.

-          Netflix cancelling the show all together (or at least in countries where these methods and tools are illegal and regulated).

If you want to help, please email me at nicolekbarnett@gmail.com. This petition below is the start of developing some momentum on this initiative, but its not going to end here.

Change.org – Cancel Netflix’s soon released show: Canine Intervention – due to inhumane animal training https://www.change.org/WeDontNeedAnotherCeasar

How to help:

1.    Send me anything you might be able to do that maybe we haven’t thought of or started?

2.    Share the initiative or petition on social media, newsletter to email list subscribers or members, share in other ways.

3.    Send to your local government if your country doesn’t support these methods for them to be able to take legal action on the release of the show in your country.

4.    Send a complaint to customer service at Netflix.

We are strong if we come together with a collective voice.

Sincerely,

Nicole Barnett, CTC
