Gracepoint had only just began to distinguish itself from Broadchurch and as a result was not given a fair start. Fox has mishandled the show, placing it on a highly contested night, which led to poor ratings.

Gracepoint has a solid fanbase and would find a second life on Netflix, just like Shine America's other production The Killing. This would be a match made in heaven as people could watch as much as they want and as often as they want.
