This Public Shelter in Gherla, Romania, is supposed to provide shelter, food and care for over 150 dogs, captured from the streets, where most have lived happily, being fed by locals for years. They are captured by the 'Vet' who works at the PS. I say vet loosely as she gives the desperate dogs no treatment whilst they are in her 'care'.

Over the last three years we have watched the conditions get worse and worse. The cold dark, wet, mouldy cells inside are where the dogs are put and left. The pens outside have no cover from sun, wind, rain or the -30 winter weather coming very soon. They have no beds, bedding, the houses that were put there three years ago are rotten and have no floors!

It is heartbreaking to hear the screams and desperate cries every day, that come from the once happy dogs...now resigned to the fact they will die in this hell hole, either by fights, lack of care or at the hand of the 'vet'.

The world are watching!

We are willing to get beds and blankets into this hell and appeal for the Mayor, who promised to help these dogs, to provide adequate staff and conditions for these innocent dogs who deserve much more than this!
