HORRRRRAYYYYY!!!!!! It took 3 months and 29 days, but we did it! I’d first like to thank every single supporter on this petition. It was your support that encouraged five local investors (John Vergos, Matthew Crow, Christy Yarbro, Wilson Robbins, and Frank Jones) to put their time and financial resources into saving Booksellers. I’d also like to thank Cory Prewitt of the Laurelwood Shopping Center for working diligently to put together this group of local investors. He’s been working a lot behind the scenes to put this together, so he deserves some major credit. Finally, I’d like to thank Ian Evans and Sydney Prather for helping me build this movement when we first started this petition.
A couple of quick notes about the new store:
-The new bookstore will have a new name
-It’s planning to open in mid-August 2017
-The floor space will be scaled down from 25,000 to 10,000 square feet
-There will still be a restaurant in the new bookstore
-AND most importantly they are dedicated to creating a similar environment to browse for books
I can’t emphasize how great it is that all five investors are local investors. This will help to ensure the new bookstore remains relevant to the interests of the local community. It’s been my pleasure to serve as the head of the petition movement and I hope you enjoyed reading the many posts! I’ll still keep you updated with any new information I find out about the new bookstore through the petition, but now it’s time to finally click the victory button! Thank you all again for your interest and support!
Thank you,
Emmett Miskell
