Good evening everyone,
My name is Emmett Miskell and I am the individual who started this petition. Before I update you on how this petition has impacted Bookseller's situation thus far, I'd like to tell you a little about myself. I am a senior at White Station High School and I LOVE reading books (in case you haven't noticed). I've lived in Memphis for all seventeen years of my life and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. Booksellers has been an important part of my life. I've been going to Booksellers (back then Davis-Kidd) since I was four years old and I would be saddened and devastated to see it leave.
So you might be wondering: "Yeah I signed a petition, but what can signing an online petition really do? Well, by signing the petition, you are not only showing support for Booksellers, but also your support for any potential financial backers who might be interested in supporting our beloved local business. There are numerous donors in Memphis who have been generous enough to work with local businesses in the past to help support them and I dearly hope that some of these same donors will be interested in backing Booksellers. While yes, just signing a petition CAN'T change anything, the impact that radiates from the wave of support towards a petition CAN work miracles.
Today I had the opportunity to talk with several media outlets about spreading the word and searching for financial backers. Below you can see several of the articles I participated in and you guys helped to promote:

Tomorrow I will be meeting with several of the staff at Booksellers to discuss further options for keeping Booksellers open. For now, keep sharing this petition on social media, with your friends, neighbors, or pretty much anyone who reads books! Remember #MemphisGetsLit. Booksellers will be starting a liquidation sale this Friday and the least we can do is provide them as much business as possible. In the near future, I hope to plan an event in conjunction with Booksellers to raise support for the local business. Below, I have attached a link to a pdf you can print off and share with others about how we can save Booksellers from permanently closing.
By the way, congrats on reaching over 100 signatures so far! Keep spreading the word and let's find a financial backer! If you know of anyone who might be interested in working with Booksellers as a financial partner, have any questions regarding this petition, or have any potential solutions that you'd like to express with me please contact me at savebooksellers@gmail.com so we discuss further potential solutions with Booksellers.
