Restore Cheniere Lake

Restore Cheniere Lake
The Issue
In 2016, floods in Northeast Louisiana devastated a large part of our state. One area that was severely damaged was the Cheniere Lake Spillway. The damage was so great that the lake has drained out back into the Ouachita River. The embankment was damaged to the point that the roadway was closed for over a year to repair. Then again in 2018 the roadway embankment was damaged with waters allowed to flow freely into and out of the lake without the spillway to retain.
The Department of Transportation has budgeted funds for this project since BEFORE the floods. The spillway was already scheduled for replacement in 2013.
Cheniere Lake affects hundreds of workers, thousands in tax base revenue, and thousands of sportsmen, and property owners all around the lake. We are asking the State Legislature to allocate funds so that the lake can be returned to the taxpayers of the State of Louisiana.
