Thank you for your continued support! We wanted to share some updates with everyone on here, as most of our updates have been on GoFundMe & our Facebook group, "Montville Residents for Responsible Growth".
Since our last update:
- Multiple on going litigations to appeal the Zoning Board of Adjustment's wrongful decision to approve Diversified Properties, LLC's proposed "Brookside at Montville" have been underway for several months. Montville's own Township Committee and resident Neil Boyle (& MRRG) have both filed suits against the project due to the ZBOA's highly questionable-rezoning of this land. Please aid in supporting the legal fees being accrued in this incredibly selfless resident's name via GoFundMe here.
- Diversified Properties, LLC erected a sign in the right-of-way passage of the 287S on-ramp, to advertise their prospective project that is currently under parallel-litigation (one suit filed by Montville Township and one filed by Montville resident Neil Boyle). The sign is pictured above (top left).
- Three Zoning Board of Adjustment members resigned after granting approval of this project with a 5-2 vote on 9/6/2023: Ray Giordano (“yes” voter), Richard Moore (“yes” voter), and James Marinello (former chairman & “no” voter).
- MRRG’s GoFundMe campaign has raised $9,335 out of our $20,000 goal/legal fees estimate, thanks to 143 supporters and counting! Please consider sharing the campaign and supporting by visiting this link.
- “Diversified has spent almost $1.4 million on the project so far according to documents filed by the company’s attorney, and continues to expend about $10,000 for every month that the project is delayed in court.” (Benno, 2024)
- Diversified Properties, LLC’s other 2023 projects while awaiting this litigation include:
- Acres of forest have been destroyed for three buildings of “Industrial Use” to be built near the Montville entrance 287N ramp / Schneider Lane (three pictures attached above).
- Additionally, Diversified acquired an existing industrial property on Indian Lane, and is leasing it to a fragrance production facility.
- These new 2023/24 projects are amongst several other Diversified-built/owned business properties and industrial properties located in Montville.
- The NJ Historic Preservation Office was on site of the 29 acres to conduct a study of the property/historic homes recently. We have called and emailed to inquire regarding the purpose of their study and any findings, and we are awaiting their response.
Thank you all again for your continued support. This process has been an incredible testament to "power in numbers." We've been able to make significant change, as a direct result of this group's collective efforts. We showed up to every meeting, conducted copious amounts of research (and testified to it), gained tons of traction from social media engagement, and have proven to our town officials that we have immense investment and pride in making better, responsible decisions for the future of our town (and thankfully they heard us).
As I've said prior, it takes a village, and we've thankfully got a great village - thanks to you all!
