Bring Rain, Havik, Baraka, and Fujin in Mortal Kombat X as future DLC
The Issue
Mortal Kombat X, the tenth main installment to the Mortal Kombat franchise, is one of the biggest releases set for 2015 (Due to release April 14th, 2015). The game is the follow up to NeatherRealm Studios' 2011 game Mortal Kombat 9 (Mortal Kombat 2011) which is a reboot of the classic arcade fighter Mortal Kombat released in 1992. The game is set 25 years later after the events of Mortal Kombat 9 in which the infamous antagonist Shao Kahn was killed by Raiden and the Elder Gods. In Mortal Kombat X, an evil Elder God named Shinnok escapes and breaks free from his previous imprisonment and plans to conquer Earth Realm by corrupting the realm's jensai. As the main antagonist of the story, it only makes sense that Shinnok be an unlock-able fighter/character when it comes to multiplayer. As an Elder God, Shinnok is one of the most powerful characters in the franchise. This makes up for a acceptable reason as to why he is the only fighter to be unlocked via the story, making a total of 24 playable fighters. However, during the story, many fan favorite characters make cameo appearances and aren't playable themselves such as Shinnok is. Such characters are: Rain, Fujin, Baraka, Sareena, Bo Rai Cho, Frost, Sindel, Li Mei, and Tanya. However, through out the story a few of these characters show up in fights and will fight you, these characters are: Tanya, Baraka, Rain, and Sindel. Tanya is the lucky pick out of all of them and though she isn't part of the initial roster, she returns to the game as a fighter as DLC (downloadable content). As of right now, there are only four confirmed fighters to make it into the game as DLC, these fighters are the classic horror icon Jason Voorhees, Tanya, 1987's Predator, and Tremor, a fighter who is a familiar face to those of the franchise but makes his debut as a fully fleshed out playable fighter in Mortal Kombat X. Now just as its previous game, Mortal Kombat X has four playable DLC fighters. However, in NeatherRealm Studios' previous game, Injustice: Gods Among Us, they released a total of six DLC fighters for their costumers to purchase to complete their game's roster. With the new next-gen hardware, this would be relatively simple and easier to do. So if NRS (NeatherRealm Studios) decided to take this route again, they could very easily add some fan favorites to the game as DLC. Such fighters to add could be: Havik, Fujin, Rain, and maybe even Baraka. The reason I selected these fighters to appear are simply the fact they would fit well into the game's roster and are fan favorites. Havik made a brief appearance in issues 12 & 13 of the Mortal Kombat X comics and is favorite of many fans of the franchise and would make a great addition into the game's roster as he hasn't been playable sense MK: Armageddon. Same goes for Fujin, he made a brief appearance in chapter one of the Mortal Kombat X campaign/story and was given a new design and voice clips making him easy to implement into the roster, he was highly wanted to be in to game at launch as a fighter but sadly didn't make the cut, this raises the demand for him to be brought into the game as DLC as many fans were hoping to play as the god of wind once againsense his last appearance in Armageddon. Rain on the other hand would be relativley simple to bring to the roster sense, just like Fujin, has new voice clips, an updated design from his Armageddon one, has ridiculously high demand from fans sense he wasn't on the initial roster and was expexcted to make the cut at as an unlock, not only that, Rain had a some what small move set sense you had to fight him in the story which would act perfect for a base move set for the character as all needs now is a few special variation moves. Now, last but not least is Baraka. Where do I even begin to start with him? Well, first off, just like Rain, the famous Tarkatan warrior has a base move set sense you had to fight against him in the story mode. Not only that Baraka is a classic icon of the game as one of the most well known fighters in the franchise. He has been in the series sense 1993's Mortal Kombat ll. He is a classic and must have in the game's roster. Just like Fujin and Rain he has voice clips, animations, updated attire, and shows up in the Mortal Kombat X story line. Baraka would make great addition to the game as DLC and would be a great character to end off DLC in a second and final Kombat Pack for the game. Sense NRS' previous game Injustice: Gods Among Us had six DLC fighters, an additional two more would make a great addition into the next generation of Mortal Kombat.
