🚨 SAVE NOTRE-DAME DE NAZARETH — 153 YEARS OF HISTORY ON THE LINE

Collège Notre-Dame de Nazareth in Achrafieh, founded by the Sisters of Nazareth and officially recognized by the French Ministry of Education, is facing a possible transfer to another religious congregation.

We firmly oppose any transfer or handover of Notre-Dame de Nazareth.

WHY THIS MATTERS 

Nazareth is not just a school. It is an  identity, a history and a legacy.

For 153 years, Nazareth has been far more than a school. It is an identity, a history and a legacy shared by generations of students, families, teachers and alumni, and an important part of Beirut’s French-language educational heritage.

WHAT WE DEMAND

We call on the Congregation’s leadership and the relevant ecclesiastical, Lebanese and French authorities to:

* Reject any transfer or handover of Notre-Dame de Nazareth

* Preserve its name, identity, values and French-language educational mission

* Protect its historic buildings and heritage

* Ensure full transparency and consultation with the Nazareth community

* Guarantee the school’s long-term continuity

Lebanon has already lost too many of its historic institutions. Nazareth must not be next.

153 years of history cannot simply be handed over.

Nazareth’s identity must be protected and its legacy preserved for future generations.
