Hi all,

Thanks again for signing and sharing our petition! We have now collected more than 2,500 signatures.

At just after 9am this morning I was interviewed by Kia Handley on ABC Newcastle explaining why I started the petition and what many of you gave as a reason for signing. I hope that with collecting more signatures than tickets being sold the organisers might reconsider their decision to play Game 3 in Newcastle.

Please keep sharing the petition for more people to sign!

Tony Shepherd AO, chairman of Venues NSW, spoke this morning on ABC radio and said that "most of the people will follow the rules". And that is where the problem lies. Most people - not all. An analysis of the recent games and subsequent infections during the European Soccer Championships shows that there is a body of evidence strongly suggestion a direct link between infections and outdoor events with a large number of spectators!
It is also not only people in the stadiums but fans who are travelling to the game but are not allowed in that pose a risk. People who are turned away at the gates will go to local pubs and bar to view the game, creating new possible venues for spreading the infections.

But we should not only talk about the individuals who could become spreaders - it is the system that allows for the game to go ahead at a time when everyone says we are at a crucial crossroads.

Do we need another area possibly to go into lockdown because of a single State of Origin game in Newcastle in a series that has already been decided?

NO!
