Oxbow Dairies Ltd, for which National MP Barbara Kuriger is a shareholder, has been charged with 11 counts of animal cruelty. However, Kuriger remains an active and paid National Party MP.

In the past, MPs whose family have been implicated in illegal activity have been stood down, such as when Labour Party social development spokesperson Carmel Sepuloni was stood down in 2015.

While Kuriger was not directly involved in running Oxbow Dairies Ltd, she has directly profited from this alleged cruelty.

We demand that while this matter is before the courts, that the National Party does the honourable thing and stands Kuriger down.
