At last we have some positive news, we are approaching a year since I started this petition. NICE are considering the changes that all the researchers / professionals have been asking for. The consultation ends on 15th January, this is limited to section 1.5 which states...... **For the purposes of this guidance, severe to profound deafness is defined as hearing only sounds that are louder than 90 dB HL at frequencies of 2 and 4 kHz without acoustic hearing aids. Adequate benefit from acoustic hearing aids is defined for this guidance as: for adults, a score of 50% or greater on Bamford–Kowal–Bench (BKB) sentence testing at a sound intensity of 70 dB SPL for children, speech, language and listening skills appropriate to age, developmental stage and cognitive ability.** This is the link to the review paper ........ https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/TA166/documents/review-proposal-paper Hopefully 2018 will be the start of positive steps towards many people being accepted for Cochlear Implants that they need. Thanks Diane
