I am absolutely thrilled to announce that the minister of health for NI has responded to the letters sent.
Thanks to everyone who signed and took time to press local mps for a response. The minister has acknowledged the heartache for families who have suffered miscarriage and has vowed to create a regional bereavement care guidance for NI medical staff so that emotional and mental health is at the forefront of care for miscarriage. He has local trusts, charities and the PHA working to develop the new guidelines
This will bring Northern Ireland in line with England and Wales and Scotland and offer families high quality emotional and mental health support sensitive to the specific needs of the family during any experience of pregnancy or baby loss.
This is absolutely incredible news and a huge step towards proper mental health support for woman following the loss of a child.
