It's been over 12 months since I was relocated. I have stepped back to focus on my physical and mental health as I try to adjust to feeling 'normal.' I can't ignore how upsetting it is to now be seeing exactly what I and others told our politicians was going to happen due to the housing shortage
To know 12 months on, victims are still stuck in refuges infuriates me. To know the stories being told to me if those being bullied in transitional housing only infuriates me more. Knowing victims are choosing homelessness or returning due to a lack of affordable housing devastates. This all means those stuck where I was over 18 months ago, are still stuck. Nothing has changed, in fact it is worse.
What will it take for the money pledged to family violence victims to be allocated to what is needed most? Australia needs safe and affordable housing for women, children and men escaping unsafe environments. It was needed at least 2 years ago.
Where is all the housing promised?
