The Fulani Militia camouflaging as herdsmen have been ravaging from the middle belt down to the southernmost parts of Nigeria, with very heavy casualties without any counter from the Nigerian government.

Unlike Boko Haram which only operates in northern Nigeria, the nomadic militants dominate the middle belt region, and spread their killing, rape, and destruction further to the south.

The Global Terrorism Index of 2015 states that over 90 percent of the attacks carried out by the group are on private citizens, accounting for 81 percent of deaths in the area. And these attacks have mainly been through armed assaults, killing an average of 11 people per attack.

These marauding Fulani Militia has been named as the 4th most deadly terror group in the world today.

It's significant that the Nigerian President, General Muhammadu Buhari happens to be a Fulani man. Before General Buhari came to power, between 2010 and 2013, Fulani milita killed about 80 people in total.

Since his assumption of office, the Fulani herdsmen (militia) have grown bolder and more deadly without any resistance from the security services.

Over 4000 people have been wiped out of existence and scores of communities sacked by these Fulani herdsmen (militia), without President Buhari condoling with the victims nor taking any official actions to stop the massacres.

He has turned a blind eye and deaf ears to the plight of the people affected by the crimes of these terrorists.

On a visit to Agatu in Benue state, where well over 500 lives were snuffed out and a whole local government area sacked by these terrorists camouflaging as herdsmen, the Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to Nigeria and Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), Mrs. Angele Dikongue Atangana has stated that the level of killings and destruction perpetrated in Agatu local government by herdsmen is the worst in history. In her words, "“In my 20 years of working as a humanitarian, I have never seen such level of destruction. If steps are not taken, the crises can affect the country as a whole,”

This statement from the UNHCR representative captures the essence of this petition.

The international community MUST step into the matter now before we have another repetition of Rwanda crisis in Nigeria, since the President has shown by his actions that he favours the ongoing massacre of whole communities by his Fulani kinsmen.

These marauding Fulani-herds-terrorists have been on a free killing spree in almost every region in Nigeria with very high casualty figures and yet all the government does is blame the Indigenous farmers, while insisting that the grazing routes must be maintained, and grazing colonies forcefully foisted on all states.

If not stemmed now, the victims of this genocide would be left without any option than to protect themselves, which ultimately would degenerate into a full blown arms crisis similar to the Rwandan crisis.
