Greetings...
To those who have recently signed our petition "thank you". I want you to know this is the right fight for its not for one we fight but for all. We are seeking a nationwide MOVEMENT to champion the voices of those who have gone unheard who were victimized by police. Countless thousands have suffered injury and loss with no way of making their voices heard. And we cannot profess to be about justice if we exclude their voices. What a great task we have set out to do! But why should we do what's "less than needed" when the possibility exists to address it all? Who would we be as a nation purporting liberty & justice for all if we knowing excluded the voiceless from the fight being waged? I am glad you have taken up this cause and have signed your names to a demand seeking the benefit of all. It is a small act which I hope will be accompanied by a strong stand of the people who know wrong when they see it, who are willing to fight for what's right. It is wrong to murder unarmed individuals. And it is wrong to brutalize while subdued. And it is wrong to falsely accuse and arrest.
The list of atrocities committed does not end here but the cause for each and every one of them - is the lack of accountability! And if police are not held accountable, but promoted, rewarded, and kept from prosecution, can we realistically expect any change concerning policing? Change is not easy and does not come by "hoping and wishing". There will be no "sudden recognition" on the part of police for the atrocities committed. And we have no expectation that a law or "new reforms" shall make a difference. For the current laws are consistently violated while reforms are dismissed as fast as they are implemented. We fight to effect a change that can be felt "across the board" and that means it won't be done in corner somewhere, where nobody knew the demand being made. As we grow in numbers and as our resources financially increase, we'll be able to launch forward in ways that can been seen, felt and heard. And I am counting on each of you to commit to taking it all the way. Because this fight if need be, shall be heard around the world as those who have challenged the United States concerning its claims of liberty & justice for all.
