On June 9th of 2017, two deputies and a Tulsa police officer shot and killed 29 year old Joshua Anthony Barre in a convenience store in Tulsa. According to police, they went to the home with a “pick up” order. It is an order which signed by judge, allowing police to “pick up” those having a mental disorder. But in this case, the order had not been signed by a judge. Nevertheless, they proceeded to the home in an attempt to apprehend him. Police claim he was armed with two knives and headed to the convenience store. They say they shot him once he entered because people were inside. But according to those at the scene who witnessed the shooting the victim was tasered twice as he was entering the store and then “fired upon” by police who shot through the windows of the store. If that account is true, it nullify’s the claims of police who say they wanted to protect those in the store. Shooting through the glass of the store putting every person at risk of being shot, does not convey the intent to protect those inside. Nearly 200 hundred people had gathered at the scene of this shooting “outraged” at the murder that had taken place. Additional police including those in riot gear were called to the scene as a result. The mother has told the media her son was not violent and would never hurt anyone. She said police did not have to shoot and murder him… I agree. They didn’t have to shoot and murder ANY of the victims who posed no threat of harm. Was the victim in this case armed? Police say he was but they also say he was walking to the store not towards police. They do not say, that any orders were given for him to “stop, freeze, or drop any weapons”. Perhaps by the end of the day they’ll add this to the story, because it is not being told as of yet. Meanwhile, a 29 year old black male is dead. And regardless to what is said or done he shall remain that way. I only hope that it’s not true for the people, so that they “rise up” and demand an action that’s needed and long over due.
