Hello family & friends- Kayne’s Memorial Service on Thursday November 30, 2017 at Linnemann’s funeral home in Burlington, Ky. was beautiful and Kayne would have been very happy to see the turnout of people who came to pay their respects. We had so many wonderful people join us in celebrating Kayne’s life from our Kentucky State Police, military, Fidelity, Christ’s Chapel and our Montgomery Inn families not to mention hundreds of others we proudly call our family and friends. We had the service recorded but had to be edited removing the music to comply with copyright laws. It is unfortunate there isn’t a simple and reasonable way to use music for certain things such as funerals and weddings. The recorded memorial service is located on our website: www.cannonballsforkayne.org/videos. Keagan headed home Sunday and returned to Florida State in time to hit practice Monday and take an exam. He gets to come home again just before Christmas and returns before the New Year. He has a tough schedule with swim practice and the upcoming championship season so he doesn’t get the whole break like most students. We’re looking forward to seeing him compete soon. Kirsten and I spent the weekend in London, Ky. at my mom’s doing nothing! We drove back up to Northern Kentucky for the day on Monday to pick up the urn that now has Kayne in it and we headed home on Tuesday, stopping in London again for the night. Yesterday, we left Kentucky and drove home arriving just before 11pm. It was quite the experience for Moose and Chopper, our cat, trying to get used to each other so close in proximity. Chopper had been staying at my mom’s house since July when we were with Kayne in Cincinnati for radiation and he stayed there while we were with Kayne at LSU. The next few days will be busy for Kirsten and I. We plan to go through all of Kayne’s mail together. The list of tasks that need to be done seems endless. Some things unfortunately can’t be left until after Christmas. Kirsten is in the process of transitioning the blog on how things are going and the foundation. We intend to keep the momentum going from the “gift” of the foundation Kayne gave us. I will have a few more posts to update about our Celebration of Life ceremony in Florida for Kayne which will be after the new year. Check out the new location for her blog here: www.cannonballsforkayne.org/blog. We continue to pray for peace and comfort. Also, please know, we appreciate everyone wanting to help continue Kayne’s legacy. Please continue to reach out to Kirsten at cannonballsforkayne@gmail.com if you have an idea for an event, fundraiser or would like to get involved with planned activities as we work on getting organized for 2018. We ask to be consulted before starting up or hosting any fundraising events so that we all adhere to the foundation guidelines and mission in 2018. Our website and promotion of sharing Kayne’s general story and the effects of DIPG is always permitted. Any and all monies being exchanged or raised and photos, likenesses, etc… using Kayne Finley and/or Cannonballs For Kayne for promotional purposes must be approved by Kirsten Finley. We appreciate you and thank you for your support. If you were to see something with funds being raised for Kayne and/or his photo being used for such purposes and you don’t see anything on the official Facebook page for Cannonballs For Kayne, please reach out to us immediately so we be connected with the broader community to further Kayne’s mission. Stay tuned for Kayne’s Celebration of Life Event in Florida. The dates and times will be announced soon. www.cannonballsforkayne.org All our love, Curtis Finley Kayne’s Father Curtis.finley@gmail.com
