Kayne remains in the hospital for the weekend

Good evening family and friends- Kayne is still in the hospital at Shand’s and will be until Monday or Tuesday. Our desire to be home by the weekend was nothing compared to Kayne’s desire to be home. He is so tired of being hooked up to an IV. However, he does not like being in pain either. On Thursday, Kayne began the transition to a pain patch and had his IV medicine cut back. Unfortunately, his pain spiked overnight and into Friday morning causing him to increase the IV medicine. The goal is to find the right level with the IV with his pain no higher than a two and then transition to a pain patch to equal the IV and go 24 hours without a spike. Friday, Dr. G felt it was best to keep Kayne in the hospital for the weekend so they could quickly increase his pain medicine versus Kirsten and I having to increase and decrease it. They can get it done much quicker with the IV than we could at home. There have been a few good conversations, some laughs with Kayne and his humor but he is ready to go on to Heaven. He had Kirsten update his wishes on Facebook the other night for people to pray for his miracle for God to take him home. I was talking to him and we were talking about a great night we had together. He told me again how tired he was afterwards and I told him although it breaks my heart, I am praying for God to take him so he is no longer suffering. Kayne reached up and hugged me and we held each other telling each other we loved one another. It is moments like that when you wish time could just stop. On Friday night, the nurses decided to change his IV since he was staying for the weekend. His veins are not easy to get an IV started at this point. It took several nurses and a new shift to get it changed. Kayne was so funny with the nurses. He screamed once in a playful tone as one nurse began to poke his hand. After another miss, he began joking with them telling them for every miss they owed him $50.00. The nurses were so relaxed and sorry they were having such a hard time, but Kayne just kept humoring them to keep things at ease. Yes, another one of those qualities about Kayne we so much wish could stay with us. When the one nurse left, he stated, “It’s not her fault and I don’t want to make them feel bad.” It takes every bit of energy Kayne has to get out of bed and go to the bathroom. It takes energy to eat and to sit up and talk. So, afterwards he crashes and sleeps. A hospital bed was delivered to our house Friday afternoon. We thank our neighbor, Olinda for helping the delivery guys get it set up. I left Friday night and came home. There were several things we needed done and to pick up. Everyone wants fresh laundry. I picked up sheets and a mattress cover for the extra-long hospital bed for Kayne. I have arranged the third floor so when we come home his bed is ready. The couch is close to the bed so Moose can lay on it and be close to Kayne. Kayne loves for Moose to be in the bed with him, but the twin bed makes Moose tend to want to be on top of Kayne. That is too painful at this point for Kayne. He would have loved it any other time. The picture I am posting is of Kayne in 2011. This is him and our two German Shepherds and him in the twin bed he would sleep in with them. The boy absolutely loves dogs. I sure hope there are dogs in heaven for him. Thanks to Kirsten’s cousin Tanji for coming over to sit with her and let her take a shower today. That worked out great since I was gone for the day. I will post another update this week when Kayne gets to go home. We thank you for your prayers for Kayne. We thank you for praying for Kayne’s Miracle. Please continue to share the story of Kayne. You can find Kayne on Facebook, Instagram and twitter. You can also see Dementor on Instagram on his own page.
