Hello All, 

On January 27th we lost our baby brother Johnny Eugene Brown Young age 24, who was an inmate at the Macon State Prison die to a stabbing. We were not notified until the next day around 9:30a, but we were told he died the day before around 5pm. The Warden of that prison spoke to several of us and each of us received a different story about his demise, but it was Investigator Roberts that actually told us the real reason that caused his death, which was he was stabbed after being involved in and altercation. Warden Perry only said our brother came to the medical department and said he was running and hit his head. He never once disclosed to me that he was stabbed.

Warden Perry only expressed Johnny had a lacerated lip and was bleeding profusely. He never told me he was airlifted neither like he told my other sister. He was so sure that our brother was alert and talking to the staff the entire time until he left to go to the hospital for treatment even though he was bleeding profusely. Warden Perry said the nurse there could not stop his bleeding and he was sent to Phoebe Sumter Hospital. I found out that hospital was 4 miles down the road, so why would he need to be airlifted? Being airlifted means a person is in a critical state right? He then said after a few hours of treatment he perished from his injuries at the hospital. I asked the Warded was he in a fight because you keep saying he could have had internal bleeding but how if he had a lacerated lip? Then you’re saying he’s bleeding profusely and he told me, “No, I am not saying that!” Warden Perry then told me, “We are starting an investigation and we will make sure to update you all once we find out what happen.” Unbeknownst to us the person that stabbed my brother was arrested the same night!

That was one of several discrepancies the Warden left out. I asked him were there videos in the dorm to prove my brother fell and he said “No, it’s a open dorm and it has no cameras.” The day Investigator Roberts called & spoke to us, he told us our brother never made it to a helicopter and he does not know why Warden Perry told us that. He also said that he has hours of video that he has to go through with the 20 staff members under him to figure out what caused all this. He told us our brother was involved in a fight and the stabbing was after the fact and his tongue was cut. He says based on the video he did view, he is not sure if my brother was actually speaking or was he just nodding his head because there was so much blood on the floors going to medical & in medical. Our concern is why wasn’t the fight broken up? We know that corrections officers are supposed to be watching them even if it’s an open dorm. Why was/are there weapons in that prison? Why was the stabbing able to happen after the fight? Should the ones fighting be separated and if so then we think our brother could have survived?

Before we spoke to the investigator we knew the cause of death via some other source, but what really hurts is Warden Perry felt the need to lie instead of saying Johnny was involved in a fight and he was stabbed and he passed away. We could respect that, but to continue to lie and give 3 different siblings a new scenario on how he died and leave out details is ridiculous! We honestly believe he died in the that prison and was transported to the hospital as a front. If he was not fully deceased he was at the point of no return when he left in an ambulance and not a helicopter. We received so many letters & emails on Jpay form our little brother about the stabbings that have happened there in Macon State Prison, that almost two weeks before he was stabbed someone else was. He told us just in October there had been over 20 stabbings.   

After he died, someone else was found dead!! I am not sure if this was the reason Warden Perry failed to disclose the true cause of death, but he definitely is hiding things. We could not even have a viewing for his funeral because his body was cut all up and could not be embalmed. We’re told it took someone over 10mins before even coming to see him in the medical department.We would love for Johnny’s story to be read and heard in hopes that his death can prevent others. Its sad that the prison system has so many flaws and the ones inside are treated as if their loved ones do not care for them. They are mistreated and rejected on so many levels its heartbreaking. This has to be the beginning to an end. Life is too precious!

Our brother was already railroaded by a private DA named Kevin M. Farmer who is now a Superior Court Judge, who wanted a conviction so bad that he sent our 13 year old brother to juvenile and then prison for 20 years, when the evidence did not support the witnesses or anything about his case! Now this man sits as a Judge in Fulton County and will not acknowledge us at all. Even on the day we were supposed to go to trial and he told us there was no evidence against Johnny, yet he made him think the plea deal he signed behind our backs would release him and give him time served where he had already sat in juvenile for over 3 years. Johnny’s discover pack has all of this included yet he convinced our brother to sign his life away on a lie! He took an innocent young man and sent him to die in prison and that is what ultimately happened. After years in the system we found out that this was a trend and these lawyers were damning young men to prison terms just to make their career soar. We need help for all the young men who lost their lives and for those we can help save. We have tried all of the news outlets just for them to turn us down. The stations said it’s not important enough because the system has the power to keep the news stations away.  Our contact info is below.  Please help us!
