Nathan Deal is expected to make a decision regarding HB 859 (the campus carry bill) very soon. We want to make sure that Governor Deal vetoes this legislation, and we have a number of efforts that YOU can take part in. Campuses across Georgia are taking part in a huge effort this coming week (April 18-April 22) called the "Week of Action". The Week of Action is a series of events that will take place across Georgia campuses for students, faculty, and staff to show their opposition to the bill. Please click on the Facebook link below to sign up and find more information about what each USG school is doing:

Also, specifically for UGA, we will be having an event on Wednesday, April 20th from 12:00pm-4:00pm at Tate Plaza to show opposition and get others to sign petitions, send letters to Governor Deal, etc. However, we still need volunteers to be present at Tate Plaza to help run this event. Please sign up on this Google Doc below if you would like to help organize and volunteer on April 20th at UGA. You can be a student, faculty member, or a staff member to take part in this!

Finally, the Poetry Network is taking part in an effort to send Governor Deal pictures of students, faculty, and staff members with the sign I attached to this message that says "This Dawg Says Keep Education Gun Free". Please print out the picture, take a picture with it, and send it to poetryactionnetwork@gmail.com by today or tomorrow!
Thanks so much,
