Oct 14, 2017 — EDIT: The Stevens school newspaper a few days ago published this article, and I forgot to share it in the original update so I am sharing it now. https://thestute.com/2017/10/13/stevens-president-multiple-members-of-the-board-of-trustees-made-contributions-to-gianfortes-political-campaign/ I figured you all should know about this. Hello all, This update is coming a bit late, but I thought to update everyone in case someone managed to miss the announcement. https://www.stevens.edu/about-stevens/leadership/board-trustees/board-announcements The Board of Trustees has decided to change the name of the building from the "Gianforte Academic Center" to the "Gianforte Family Academic Center". For us who wrote the petition and created the website this change is inadequate, and we are incredibly disappointed. For now, we are considering what next steps we should take. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas and would like to get into contact with us, please feel to reach out at jrisi256@gmail.com In the meantime one of the alumni who has been an integral part of our organizing/resistance efforts, Natalie Barillaro, has launched a GoFundMe to raise money for a local LGBTQ community center (Hudson Pride). We felt a need to show support in some way to the LGBTQ community when Stevens failed to do so in the naming of this building. You can donate using the link below. https://www.gofundme.com/name-your-price We will keep you all updated with our future activities as well as any significant new developments. Sincerely, Joseph Risi
