Revoke Farmers Bill 2020: A humiliation to India's Democracy
The Issue
My name is Manseerat Bachhal. I am a 15 year old from Chandigarh, I have started this petition to revoke the farmers bill 2020: Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act.
The farmers bill hampers the monopoly of (APMC) Agriculture produce Market Committee (mandis) which thereby allows the sale and purchase of crops outside local mandis and allows the entry of business men thus exposing farmers at the mercy of civil servants rather than courts.
The farmers have nothing to do with the legal system but everything to do with the MSP (Minimum Support Price)
It is levied on 23 crops but the Government usually buys paddy and wheat,
It protects the farmers in adverse conditions and then the crops are sold in auction at the mandis.
Agriculture falls under the state list therefore the central government is not supposed to make laws about it .
These bills were passed by a voice vote - the quickest method of voting in the Indian Parliament.
Its the world's largest protest and yet the national as well as international media are not covering it rationally and are showing only the ruling party's version
The farmers are brutally beaten by the police and lathi charge which is one of the many grave conditions that the feeders of our very own nation have to experience .
By signing this petition you will help 250 million farmers that help put food on our plates every day.
