It has been very gratifying to us at Kindergiveitback.org to be able to provide you all a forum to make your voice heard. The petition is the voice you were denied in the six day rush to rebrand HSPVA. It’s been almost three weeks since the petition went live and we have almost 800 signatures. The rapid response from the alumni community of HSPVA, especially, has been wonderful, and we suspect, surprising to some. It’s not your imagination that during that six days, your input was sidelined. Below is a link to one of the emails received from our public information request. Written on Monday, October 10, 2016, the third day, the PR firm and handlers working to push through the name change are discussing a negative letter received by trustees. A well-written letter from an HSPVA parent had them concerned. Dianne Johnson, a former HISD trustee who was working in a consulting capacity with HSPVA Friends, wrote, “Acceptance by the school community is a new argument.” Gee, ya think? Click the link below to read the email thread. For context, Dianne Johnson is the former HISD trustee.
