The Issue

As an alumni of St. Ignatius College Preparatory, I had the privilege of being influenced by Fr. Edward A. Reese SJ, a remarkable leader whose legacy has left an indelible mark on the school community. His untimely passing after a brave battle with cancer was a significant loss to all those who had the fortune to know him.

During his tenure as President of SI, Fr. Reese achieved numerous milestones, guiding the institution towards excellence with unwavering commitment and compassion. His vision fostered an environment where learning and personal growth thrived, and his dedication to the school's values inspired countless students, including myself.

It is fitting that the new Learning Commons be named the Fr. Edward A. Reese SJ Learning Commons as a tribute to his enduring impact. Naming this space in his honor would not only commemorate his contributions but also inspire future generations of SI students to embody the same principles of leadership, service, and community that Fr. Reese championed.

Honoring Fr. Reese in this meaningful way ensures that his legacy as a transformative figure at St. Ignatius is remembered and celebrated for years to come. Let us unite as a community to preserve his memory by naming the new Learning Commons after him.

Please join me in this effort to pay tribute to a man who has given so much to our school community. Sign this petition to support naming the St. Ignatius College Preparatory’s new Learning Commons the Fr. Edward A. Reese SJ Learning Commons.
